The aim of HTC is to establish and maintain a strong Center of Excellence to generate competitive advantages for HeidelbergCement in sustainable cost leadership, product portfolio and knowledge management.
The roles of Global HTC are distributed over 3 departments staffed with specialists in their field of expertise: Global Engineering, Global Operational Support and Global Benchmarking & Training.
HeidelbergCement is determined to strengthen its competitiveness and profitability through R&D activities based on sound scientific understanding and conducted by a highly professional team of experts. Political and economic pressure will require radical changes in the future product portfolio. Therefore Global HTC is closely collaborating with Global R&D to defend HeidelbergCement’s markets versus competition.
The Global Engineering team is involved in all major investment projects of the Group. It ensures the transfer of strong internal expertise into a competitive advantage by concentrating the knowledge in the management and design of large Capex-projects.
Our cement operations are based on raw material deposits and long-term supply has to be ensured. The department Global Operational Support monitors, develops and evaluates the plant performance when it comes to mobile equipment (Yellow Machines), process, quality, maintenance and refractory.
Reliable reporting, internal and external benchmarking are an essential basis for process optimization and continuous improvement. The Global Benchmarking & Training team ensures a high level of transparency and provides systematic analysis as a driver for change.
A successful company must rely on highly trained employees. HeidelbergCement values its employees as important assets and continually invests in the development of their capabilities. HTC offers a comprehensive training program for Engineers and Technicians working in the field of cement and concrete production. Furthermore, HTC runs the “Engineer in Training (EIT)” program for junior engineers.
Knowledge Management is crucial today. Networks spanning the entire Group support the international exchange of knowledge and experiences, they help to increase skills and work together in specific areas. They are supported by an intranet platform which provides specific knowledge throughout the Group.
